The Oostvaardersplassen are one of the most unspoilt nature reserves in Europe. The area is part of the Nieuw Land National Park. The draining of Flevoland has transformed this area into a beautiful wetland area. Because of this you will find many different birds. The dikes in this area are even called "bird boulevards". You also have the chance to spot the largest herd of wild horses in Europe in the Oostvaardersplassen.
The tulip route
In the Noordoostpolder you will find the longest tulip route in the Netherlands. National Geographic even named this route one of the most beautiful car routes in the world. Escape the hustle and bustle of Keukenhof, but visit the tulip route on Flevoland. The car route is more than 100 kilometers, where you drive along beautiful views. It is the most colorful car route in the Netherlands. You can of course travel (part of) the route by bicycle or on foot. An example is the "garden route", of 19 kilometers.
Batavialand is a heritage park about water and land in the Netherlands. You will be taken into the world of historic shipbuilding in the Golden Age. You will learn about the VOC here and volunteers are there to tell you all about it. You will also find the largest wreck graveyard in the world here. The more than 450 wrecks that have been found in Flevoland can still be recognized by the poles that protrude above them.
Walibi is one of the largest and best-known theme parks in the Netherlands. It offers more than 30 spectacular attractions for all age groups.
